Living in a house with 4 older brothers and your Mom was hard, especially because my Mom lost her job. Even though I was in the 12th grade and all my brothers were in college, we all still lived at home in New York City. We all had part time jobs at fast food restaurants, but with all our money combined it was barely enough. We barely had enough money just to buy food for the week. It was the end of June, so school was almost out. We spent the rest of the time out of school working so we could get something special for Mom for her birthday. When school ended we all applied for jobs. I applied for the 2 things I thought I was great at. I applied for an acting role and to be a makeup artist. My oldest brother Mack was 23. The 2 middle brothers were twins and were 21, Oliver and Daniel. The youngest brother Erik was 20, and I'm Lizzy and I’m 18. Both of the jobs I applied for denied my offer! I was pretty bummed at that. But 3 of my other brothers got denied too. Mack was the only one that got accepted into the NYPD! (What he applied for). Our bosses found out that we applied for other jobs and thought that the only reason we worked there was because we liked it (we hated it), so what you think is going to happen. He fired us. Now us four are out of jobs and out of money. After a few weeks we came up with the riskiest move we thought of, we were going to rob a bank. A BANK! We got prepared in our black clothes, harness and got some rope and chainsaw. We were ready to do this, and we were so scared to do it. It was our only opinion other than starving. We searched for weeks on the least guarded, most profitable banks we could find. Finally we found one. A bank vault carried up to 1.7 million dollars in cash and 220 23 karat gold bars with our names on it. We broke in through the ceiling with the chainsaw. Oliver and Daniel lowered Erik and I in. We started getting most of the money in but then the vault door opened. Oh no. And guess what. Mack was the officer on guard. Just great, we were caught by our older brother. We had probably $100 000 so we tugged on the rope and ran. Mack wasn’t fast enough to see our faces or catch us. We got in our car and drove around for a bit. We knew we couldn’t risk going home and seeing Mack, so we left the country. We moved to Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. We knew it was the safest move for us. We started fresh in a new life. We bought a nice apartment, and we all got jobs. I started at a Tim Horton's and McDonald's part time and went to college. My other brothers worked at KFC and got paid $25 an hour! Which is great. We only work part time and all go to college but I think we can survive. Everything was fine until Mack called me… Just Great...

Everything was fine until Mack called me… Just Great… I picked up my phone. I hesitated to pick it up. It kept making an irritating noise. I hung up. It took 2 minutes, then it rang again. I ignored it. Then it rang a third time. I picked it up. “Will you stop dang calling me!” I yelled into the phone, then hung up. It was about an hour, then it rang again. It was Mack… Again… Ugh what was up with him? I picked up and listened. “Lizzy, you and your brothers need to come home now! And I mean it. I’ll tell you why when you get here.” It hung up right when he finished. No we’re not going back. Never… I didn’t tell Daniel, Oliver or Erik about it. I knew I couldn’t. It was just too risky for them to know and decide to go home. What if it was a trap? \what if it was something important. The thing was when we left I told Mack that we wanted to get better jobs and we were offered them up here. So for all I know, he doesn’t know about that fateful night. I decided to call him and asked what was up. I didn’t want to go home just in case he found out. He picked up the phone and said, “Hello Mack Speaking,” I didn’t answer for a bit. “Hey Mack it’s me Lizzy. I need to know why we need to come home?” He didn’t answer. Then I asked again, “Why do we need to come home?!?” This time he answered “Something happened to mom. She’s in the hospital. We don’t know how long she’ll last. Just please come,” he said through tears. I kept him on the phone and drove so fast back home, (from work) to my brothers. I told them to get in the car and we needed to go home. I kept Mack on the phone and passed it around so everyone could hear the story. It was about 11 PM when we got to the hospital. We all rushed to Mom’s hospital room. But when we got in, it wasn’t a normal hospital room. IT WAS A SET UP! A DANG SET UP! I knew I couldn’t trust that dirty rat. We looked at him. We knew what was coming. “Hands it the air… Thiefs,” Mack snarled. We all put our hands up and sighed. How’d he find out? I looked over, “I did it.”

How’d he find out? I looked over, “I did it.” The people in the shadows walked forward. We all gaped at who it was. It was the twins. Daniel and Oliver. The nasty little rats. I ran at them. I pinned Daniel to the cold wet ground. Mack tugged me away from them, just barely holding on to my torn shirt. Mack escorted us in his car. The rats were let free from their custody. Erik and I were out in a small waiting cell at the police station. Mack was keeping a close eye on us. They didn’t give us food for hours. We were staring and so so sooo thirsty. Finally after 6 hours 39 minutes and approximately 34 seconds we were brought to the interrogation room. It wasn’t Mack interrogating us, I was kinda relieved. It was some guy named Jack. He didn’t tell us his last name. I’m guessing it was Patterson based on his nametag, which is very visible. “So you either talk or you don't. I don't care much. I get paid by the hour so it’s better if you don’t, honestly.” Jack said looking down at his hand. After an hour Mack came into the room. “Detective Patterson what the heck are you doing?!?” Patterson jumped up and saluted. To be honest it was kinda funny. I started laughing. Mack looked at me then I stopped. Patterson left and Mack was left with us. He slammed his hands on the table and yelled, “Why’d you do it. Huh? Why? I know you’re a good person so why’d you do it?” He almost started crying. I stood up and hugged him. “I’m sorry. It was our only choice,” I whispered to him. Mack calmed down, and sat in the other chair. “Why was it your only choice?” He finally said. We didn’t answer. Erik stood up. “We're fired. We applied for so many other jobs and didn’t make the cut. We needed to move out, it was too much for mom. We wanted to get her something nice for her birthday but we couldn’t. We’re sorry, and I hope we can tell her before we go.” Mack stood up. “Thank you for that talk, good day.” Mack left. The door locked behind him. Great another long hour here. After about 30 minutes we’re brought to court. Daniel and Oliver were there as “witnesses”. It was very extremely boring. But after that long 7 and a half hours of arguing and agreeing. We were sent to jail for 5 months. It’s a minor because, uh I don’t really know I kinda fell asleep in the first 10 minutes. We got to the jail. After a few days I heard a stretching at the cell door. I couldn’t fall asleep. Just great...
